In the territory of 150 hectares, more than 300 constructions of all types are installed. The central part of the outdoor museum is dedicated to the Ukrainian village of 18-20 centuries.
More than 70,000 household items, folk artworks, instruments of labour, clothes, furniture, wooden tableware and pottery as well as musical instruments from the museum collection.
In Pirohiv around 20 holidays are celebrated, festivals and fairs are organised. Here you can ride horses, play the Ukrainian national games, drink the excellent medovukha and even get married in a church.
Interesting facts:
★ The village of Pirohiv had been first mentioned in 1627. It was a settlement owned by the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
★ The Pirohiv museum was founded in 1969, but the first visitors were only admitted in 1976. Today it has the national status and is one of the unique museums of Europe.

★ The use of land near Pirohiv was the cause of several scandals about the permissions issued by the local authorities to build commercial objects.

Hi everyone! I’ve been to Kiev for the first time and would like to express my gratitude to KievInsiders for the warm reception. And, of course, I would like to thank my guide Oksana. I’ve booked the personal assistant service and Oksana assisted in handling my business all day long. I’ve had several meetings and she was of great help as an interpreter. Her proficiency in French came in handy.
The following day I had some spare time and ordered the excursion to the Pirogovo national park. Oksana has told to me many interesting things about the Ukrainian culture and history, we did a small picnic in a clearing near the mill and I have tasted a Ukrainian dish – zrazy. This is how it’s called, I think)) I would recommend this tour to those who want to have rest, go for a walk outside the city and breathe fresh air.
Our guide, Eugenia, was welcoming and friendly!
We were on Pagan and Pirohiv open air park tours. The tours were fascinating! We learned a lot of new and interesting! Our guide answered on the endless stream of our questions :)
Thanks a lot to Kiev Insiders and especially to Eugenia!
