My name is Alyona, and I am a guide-interpreter in Kiev. I am a very active, emotional, creative, easy-going and confident person. I decided to become a guide because of the excellent opportunity to meet and to communicate with new people from all over the world. I love travelling, and I know from my own experience how exciting, thrilling and at the same time challenging it can be in a new, unfamiliar place, so helping people is another reason to be a guide. I’m very thankful for hospitality to the KievInsiders agency. I’ve ordered the personal assistant for all day because I only had 2 days in total – didn’t want to waste time. They have picked me up at the airport with a name plate, have immediately given a local sim-card with the Internet access which was very handy! Then they drove me to the hotel and even have settled some problems with the room because there the air conditioner didn’t work and the person at the reception wasn’t in a hurry to give me another room.
After I arranged all my personal business, they have invited me to a Ukrainian restaurant where I have tasted the borsch for the first time (somewhat unusual but delicious!). And then the introduction to Kiev has begun. Honestly, I didn’t expect such an intensive program. We went for a drive around the city, have been to the Lavra, the modern art center. Then we just took a walk in the old streets and looked at the huge murals. And in the evening we played bowling, had the local beer. Time passed imperceptibly and here we are already in a lounge-bar, I smoke shisha and realize that it has only been one day.
Alone in a new city I, for sure, couldn’t have such rest. I liked it, thanks a lot to my guide Alyona!
