Hi everyone! My name is Helga, and I am a passionate private guide, book lover, choir singer and a Kyiv witch. First things first, though.

I am singing in a Kyiv Polytechnic student choir, one of the oldest student choirs in Ukraine. In 2017 we turned 70 years old. And that’s another example of a talented teacher because my conductor is one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met. Music is very important to me, and as long as I know, I started singing from the first days of my life 😉

I am also crazy about books. It sounds very funny because I know that when my parents were trying to teach me how to read, I didn’t want to do that and I was hiding under the table. But suddenly, at the age of 6, I’ve changed my mind and today I’m a truly book-addicted person. I don’t even know how many books I’ve read and how many books I have. Reading is one of the most important things in my life and of course, I need it for my work. So it’s better to take me away from a bookstore before I leave all of my money there.

Don’t be scared when I say that I’m a Kyiv witch. Because in the Ukrainian language this word comes from a word “to know”, and in the history of Kyiv witches were the women who knew something more than ordinary people and were protecting their city from enemies with their magic. By the way, it’s the biggest paradox of Kyiv: being a capital of Christianity and witchcraft at the same time. That is what I am telling to tourists during my city tours.

So, the biggest happiness is when you are able to do what you love and love what you do. And I think I’ve found it.

And in the end I want to say a phrase that is normally a beginning and an end of my tours: “Always welcome to Kyiv!”
